Adult Summer Reading Program 2021

The Program
Introducing Patmos Library's first annual Adult Summer Reading Program! Unlike our Winter Reading Program, which is more prize-based for our patrons, we would like the Summer Reading Program to be more about giving back to our community.
This year’s theme for the Youth Summer Reading Program is “Tales and Tails” with an animal and outdoor focus. To coincide with that, our Adult Summer Reading Program is raising money and donations for an animal shelter in our area!
Participants read and a few local businesses and individuals sponsor goals for our community. The more books we read, the more money gets donated to the shelter!
Patrons are also welcome to put donations for the shelter in the jar at the desk or drop off items from the shelter's wish list (hswestmi.org/wish-list) at the library.
We're also hosting an adoption event for the shelter on Thursday, August 19th from 4pm to
6:30pm! Stop in to see all the cute animals and maybe find a new best friend.
The Shelter
Humane Society of West Michigan has an over 130-year history of promoting humane treatment and responsible care of animals in West Michigan.
They are our area’s leading animal welfare organization, with a vision to build a healthy, safe, and compassionate community where all animals receive the care they deserve. Through education, example, placement, and protection, HSWM strives to provide companion pets and those that care for them with education, expertise, and resources to ensure the highest quality care for our region’s animals.
Humane Society of West Michigan is 100% donor-funded and relies on the generosity of individuals, organizations, and companies to provide comprehensive care and shelter for the 4000+ animals who come through their doors each year.
The Goals
Goals set by our amazing sponsors, which, if achieved, will benefit the shelter we're supporting:
- Bohn Dental is donating 25¢ per book, up to the amount of $100!Brad Burke, the owner of Jamestown Quik Stop and Grandma Capetta's Pizza, is donating 50¢ per book read and recorded during our program, up to the amount of $500!
- Hudsonville Meijer is donating $100 during our program!
- Jamestown Clinic is donating 25¢ per book read and recorded during our program, up to the amount of $250!
- JoLynn Bakovka is donating $50 if we reach the goal of 100 books read and recorded during our program!
- Max Krueger is donating $100 if we reach the goal of 200 books read and recorded during our program!
Read and log at least 10 books during the program to receive a commemorative tote bag from the library! (Limit 1 per person).
